Brewt’s and Cafe Mamo

A photographer, a couple regulars, and the owner of Brewt’s walk into a bar…

When we’re planning our photoshoots, we like to think about locations that have a connection to the Brewt’s brand. This could be anything from a stockist who carries the Brewt’s line to a recognizable hometown spot. For this shoot, we partnered with Cafe Mamo who serve up our Bloody Mary mix when they offer brunch.

Best part? We got to hang out with Mike and Summer who are the owners of this cozy restaurant. You can see their perspective and style all over the cafe (literally, Summer shared that she took on the project of tiling their entire kitchen area a cheery pink tile which is definitely a focal point of the space).

The cafe is located in the Creston neighborhood of Grand Rapids. If you aren’t familiar, it’s a perfectly eclectic corner on the Northeast side of the city. Murals of local artists can be found on many of the buildings as you drive around adding to the hyper local feel of this part of GR. When we met to chat about a shoot, we threw around ideas of how we could showcase the Brewt’s product line through the lens of their food. Their menu is constantly changing based on what they recieve from local farmers. When they emailed us an idea of their full trout doused in our hot sauces we knew we were in the right place.

Despite there being a slight blizzard the day of our shoot, there was no shortage of fun in the cafe. Summer served as bartender, while Mike helped sling plates of their beautifully plated food. Easy music played from their record player. A couple regulars stopped in to be part of the shoot and help enjoy the food and libations. Not a bad way to spend a snowy afternoon…

We loved partnering with Mike and Summer for this shoot. It’s inspiring to connect with other local business owners who are creating something special on their terms…no shortcuts, no bullshit, just delicious food and good drinks. If you are local to West Michigan or planning to visit, make sure to add Cafe Mamo to your list!

Thanks to Mike, Summer, and the entire Cafe Mamo staff for letting us invade your space and enjoying a good drink as much as we do…

Cheers friends,
